What is PCAU?

The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) was established in 1999 and registered as a Professional Association and National NGO in 2003. It was formed to support and promote the development of palliative care providers and thus palliative care in Uganda.

Through its operation it enables those health and allied professionals in palliative care to plan together for the ongoing growth and coordination of palliative care; it also involves the community in this development.

Through PCAU, members share experience and knowledge, thereby promoting effective palliative care, and a national voice for its development. Ultimately this increases the quality of life for the terminally ill patient and their family.

"You matter because you are YOU. You matter up to the last moment of your life. And we will do all that we can to help you to LIVE until you die."
By Dame Cicely Saunders (RIP) founder of the modern hospice and palliative care movement that motivates PCAU to support and promote palliative care in Uganda.
