THE VISION OF PCAU is: PALLIATIVE CARE FOR ALL IN UGANDA

Its Mission is: To support and promote affordable and culturally appropriate palliative care throughout Uganda.

Through our member organisations (like Kitovu Mobile Home care programme), the poorest of the poor are able to access palliative care services.

Core Areas of the Palliative Care Association of Uganda are:

  1. Capacity building: That is, providing knowledge, skills and resources to enable persons and organisations involved in palliative care to provide better and more effective services. It includes providing mentorship and support supervision to ensure that they continue to provide consistent and high quality palliative care services.
  2. Advocacy: This involves influencing policy on palliative care dissemination, information, plus palliative care research and publications.
  3. Collaboration and networking is used as a vehicle to deliver training and advocacy and to ensure comprehensive palliative care for patients and their families.

"You matter because you are YOU. You matter up to the last moment of your life. And we will do all that we can to help you to LIVE until you die."
By Dame Cicely Saunders (RIP) founder of the modern hospice and palliative care movement that motivates PCAU to support and promote palliative care in Uganda.
